FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I register as a patient?
Anyone living within our practice boundary can register with us as an NHS patient, including if you are homeless or have no fixed address.
- Complete a GMS1 registration form at reception or online
- Provide proof of address and photo ID (passport or driving licence)
- We'll confirm your registration within 5 working days and send you a welcome letter
If you'd rather not register with the NHS, you can still be seen as a private patient for a fee — just contact reception for our current price list.
Do you offer both NHS and private appointments?
Yes. The majority of our services are provided free of charge on the NHS, including routine GP appointments, health checks and most vaccinations.
- NHS appointments: free at the point of use for registered patients
- Private appointments: usually available within 24–48 hours, at a time that suits you
- Private travel vaccines: some travel jabs are only available privately, such as Japanese encephalitis and yellow fever
Please be honest with our reception team about whether you are requesting an NHS or private appointment so we can triage you appropriately.
Which travel vaccinations do you offer?
Our in-house travel clinic covers the vaccines most people need for holidays, gap years and work travel:
- Tetanus, diphtheria and polio boosters
- Hepatitis A and B
- Typhoid, cholera and rabies
- Japanese encephalitis and yellow fever
- Malaria advice and prophylaxis
Some of these are available on the NHS for registered patients; others are provided privately. We recommend booking your appointment at least 6–8 weeks before you travel.
Do you carry out minor surgery at the practice?
Yes. Our on-site minor surgery suite means many procedures are done close to home, saving you a hospital visit:
- Joint and bursa injections
- Cryotherapy for warts and skin lesions
- Minor dermatology procedures and skin tag removal
- Ear syringing and wound care
Most minor surgery is carried out under local anaesthetic. If you need a more complex procedure, we will refer you to Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton or your nearest specialist clinic.
